Posted on Thursday, 28 July 2016

TRADING UPDATE

The first half of the year’s trading has been solid, especially in the Food & Beverage areas which are both up on last year.
Gaming is marginally below last year but we are expecting improvements for the second half of 2016.
All Bank covenants have been met.

“E-PUSH”

Further to the items in the last two (2) editions of the Club magazine and, the Advice to Members sent to members in early July 2016.
This will be the last edition of the Club magazine posted as a hard copy to those members who have not as yet provided the Club with an email address.
For those members who have not provided the Club with an email address, I advise that the magazine and any future communications will be available:
a. To read or download from the Club’s website;
b. For collection at the Customer Service desk.
I encourage all members who have not yet provided an email address to the Club to do so as soon as possible.

ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING

Thank you to those who attended the Annual General Meeting (AGM) held in May 2016. All resolutions on the agenda were passed including the resolution relating to Life Memberships.

LIFE MEMBERS LUNCH

Celebratory lunches for the Life Members elected at the AGM were held in the Celebrity Room on Friday 27 May 2016 and 3 June 2016. These are great occasions which were warmly appreciated by all attendees.
There were many fond memories and experiences shared from their long affiliation with our Club.
The new Life Members were presented with their life member badges and a small gift to commemorate the day. It is a great honour to meet all of these wonderful members who have been loyal to our Club for forty (40) continuous years.
On behalf of all members and staff, I congratulate them and thank them for their huge contribution to our Club.

COMMITTEE ELECTIONS

The Committee elections were held in May 2016. I congratulate all the Committee Members on being re-elected unopposed. I thank all the members of the Committee for their commitment and dedication.

AIRSPACE DEVELOPMENT UPDATE

As members would be aware, the Club and Developer lodged a Stage 1 Development Application (DA) with the City of Sydney Council late in 2015.
Since that time, the Club and Developer have been continuing to work hard with the various Council representatives in the Planning, Heritage and Traffic areas to provide sufficient information for the Council to undertake a complete and comprehensive assessment of the DA.
The Council did not reach a determination within the legislative time frames.
The Club and Developer have now lodged an appeal to the Land and Environment Court (costs being paid by the Developer).

The Club and Developer remain committed to negotiating a successful outcome with the Council which will now be under the direction of the Land and Environment Court.
The Club and Developer remain hopeful of obtaining the Stage 1 approval this year and I will continue to keep members informed of developments.

NEW PROMOTIONS

There are a number of new promotions in all areas of the Club. I encourage members to visit the Club and enjoy the many promotions being featured throughout the Gaming and Food & Beverage areas.
For additional information of all the fabulous promotions, please refer to the relevant sections of the magazine.

ESPERANTO DINING ROOM AND COCKTAIL BAR

Over the course of the last six (6) months, there has been a steady decline in the number of members and guests visiting the Esperanto Dining Room or Cocktail Bar on Tuesday and Wednesday evenings. The declining numbers has come to the point where it is no longer viable to keep the Dining Room or Cocktail Bar open on these nights.
I advise that from the first week of August 2016, the Esperanto Dining Room and Cocktail Bar trading hours will be changing, and will now open on Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings only. The Esperanto Dining Room will continue to remain open for lunch from Tuesday to Friday.
Esperanto delivers a wonderful dining experience and I urge members who have not been there for a while to re-visit the Dining Room and enjoy the fine food and excellent service.

SPANISH THEMED EVENING IN ESPERANTO

A Spanish themed evening will be happening in our Esperanto Dining Room on Thursday 25 August 2016. The night will feature Flamenco Del Mar, a Spanish guitarist together with a Spanish singer and two (2) flamenco dancers who will perform throughout the night.
Guests will receive a sumptuous four (4) course menu and a complimentary Sangria on arrival. A selection of Sangrias, Spanish wines and cocktails themed around the evening will also be available for members and guests to purchase or attendees may have the optional matching wines.
For additional information on this exciting evening, please refer to page 19 of the magazine.

ZEST RESTAURANT

As from 6 August 2016, a new cafe style seating area has been created at the entrance to Zest Restaurant. This area will be available for you to enjoy a Barista made coffee, a range of teas and freshly baked cakes and pastries. The area will be open from 3:00pm – 5:00pm Monday to Saturday. Members and guests can also be able to relax in this area or order a selection of hot food from the Lime Bar menu.

CAFE 2

In an effort to create more efficient working areas within the Club, a decision has been made that from the first week of August 2016, Cafe 2 will cease serving lunch on Saturdays. Members will however be able to utilise the new area at the entrance to Zest Restaurant and enjoy a light meal from the Lime Bar menu which will also include a selection of sandwiches.

CTC SOCIAL MEMBERSHIPS

As from 1 October 2016, the cost of a Social Membership at City Tatts will be reduced from $30.00 to $5.00 for the 2017 membership year.

CTC PHOTO MEMBERSHIPS

In addition to the above change to the Social Memberships, the Club will also be introducing membership cards with photo identification.
The introduction of photo ID on our membership cards assists the Club with identification when running our promotions as well as providing our staff with a quick and positive identification.
Photo ID is not compulsory, at renewal time (October 2016), you can elect to have their photo ID added to their membership card or can leave their card as it is. The choice is up to you.

MR TONY GUILFOYLE

I confirm that the employment of the Club’s long serving Chief Executive Officer, Mr Tony Guilfoyle has come to an amicable end. I refer you to the Notice in Relation to Tony Guilfoyle on page 6 of the magazine. Tony leaves the Club with our best wishes.
The Committee is now taking steps to find a new Chief Executive Officer and I will keep you informed in this regard.

CITY TATTERSALL’S CLUB – RACE DAY

On Saturday 15 October 2016, the City Tattersall’s Club is scheduled to hold its annual Race Day at Randwick Race Course.
CTC will once again work closely with the Australian Turf Club (ATC) and it is pleasing to announce that CTC will once again own the race day in 2016. As in previous years, CTC will on-sell races to key suppliers of the Club and also retain the naming rights for many of the races on the day.
The Club intends to invite 70 Gold or Life members and partners to a cocktail party in the grandstand. This has been a great occasion in prior years and will be equally good in 2016.
Any Gold or Life members wishing to attend, please visit the Club’s website from 1 September 2016 to 25 September 2016 to register your name and member number. If the total member registrations exceeds the maximum available places, a lottery style draw will take place.
Unfortunately, we must restrict the invitation to two (2) tickets per Gold or Life member, a ticket for the member and one (1) guest.
If you miss out on the cocktail party, General Admission and Member tickets to the ATC for the day will be available. These will also be restricted to two (2) tickets per Gold or Life member.
I encourage Gold and Life members to register your interest in attending what will be a great day at the track!
