TRADING UPDATE

After a steady start in January, trading momentum has built throughout the quarter. I note that our restaurants have traded steadily throughout the quarter with members taking advantage of the membership renewal promotion. Another positive outcome has been the substantial reduction in creditors throughout the quarter. All bank covenants have been met.
The new Government laws to combat drunken violence in the CBD area have impacted our Club. The Government Lockouts from 1:30am, introduced on 10 February 2014, has affected our Club gaming resulting in a reduction in Gaming revenue of $780,000 per annum for 2014 and beyond.
CTC is the only club in New South Wales that has to accommodate this new law due to our location within the CBD (new Sydney CBD entertainment precinct) and due to our extended trading hours that we offer to members and guests. After nine (9) weeks of reduced trade, we have allowed for a $780,000 reduction in Gaming revenue per annum at this stage. We believe this amount will increase over time.
The Club has received many comments from members and guests who have been refused entry after 1:30am since commencement. They very openly comment that they will now change their habit and no longer visit CTC but will now visit the Casino or a number of other clubs or pubs who operate outside of the new Sydney CBD entertainment precinct. They have shared the names of all venues that they intend to visit.
CTC intends to alert the NSW Government of this situation that is occurring, as we believe that this was not the Government’s intention. We hope that in time this situation is rectified by way of equal legislation for all entertainment venues, including clubs and pubs!
This situation reflects again the importance of the Club’s proposed Airspace Development for the future of our Club!

ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING

Don’t forget that the Club’s Annual General Meeting (AGM) will be held in the Celebrity Room on Tuesday 27 May 2014 at 6:00pm.
If you are able to attend, please do so. The Club’s Annual Report and Statement of Accounts for 2013 and the outlook for 2014 and beyond will be presented.
The Business of the 2014 Annual General Meeting is also advertised in our magazine.

LIFE MEMBERS LUNCH

As usual, a resolution will be put to members at the AGM to elect new Life Members with 40 years continuous membership. If carried, a celebratory lunch will be held for those 193 new Life Members in the Celebrity Room on Friday 30 May 2014 at 12:00pm. At the lunch, Life Member badges will be presented.

AIRSPACE DEVELOPMENT UPDATE

I would like to thank members for attending the last Airspace Briefing Meeting (4) along with visiting the Club website, and viewing the newly installed Members Information Display Area near the entrance to the Lower Bar. The feedback to date has been very encouraging especially as we enter this exciting time.
